Bill Maher Praises Dave Rubin and Rumble as a “Breath of Fresh Air” in Age of Censorship and Cancel Culture

Dave Rubin, host of “The Rubin Report,” recently shared a clip from “Club Random,” a podcast hosted by Russell Brand, where Bill Maher discussed Dave’s platform Rumble. Maher praised Rumble for being a “breath of fresh air” in the current climate of censorship and cancel culture.
As many know, Rumble is a video-sharing platform that was founded in 2013. The platform has gained popularity in recent years as a viable alternative to mainstream social media platforms like YouTube and Twitter. Unlike those platforms, Rumble prides itself on its commitment to free speech and allowing all voices to be heard.
Maher went on to express his appreciation for Dave and his work on “The Rubin Report.” He acknowledged that while they don’t agree on everything politically, he respects Dave for being honest and open in his discussions.

“Dave Rubin, who runs Rumble, wrote a book a few years ago called ‘Don’t Burn This Book,'” Maher said. “And I think the reason he wrote that book is because he comes from the Left, and they have burned the book. They’ve burned the book of liberalism. And he’s saying, no, we need to hold onto it, we need to defend it.”
Maher’s praise of Dave and Rumble comes at a time when many are concerned about the increasing censorship and control of information on mainstream social media platforms. Over the past year, we’ve seen major platforms like Twitter and Facebook engage in wide-scale censorship of conservative voices, often citing nebulous and subjective rules about “hate speech” and “disinformation” as justification.
Many conservatives have turned to alternative platforms like Rumble and Parler in response to this censorship. While these platforms are much smaller than their mainstream counterparts, they offer a refuge for those who feel that their voices are being silenced and stifled on mainstream platforms.
As Dave has noted in the past, Rumble’s commitment to free speech doesn’t mean that they allow everything on their platform. They have clear rules around pornography, illegal activities, and other forms of content that are widely considered objectionable. However, they do allow for a wide range of speech and discussion, including that which may be considered controversial or unpopular.
At the heart of Rumble’s ethos is the belief that open discussion and dialogue are essential to a healthy democracy. This is something that Dave has long championed, and it’s clear that Maher shares this belief as well. By creating a platform that allows for free and open discussion, Rumble is creating a space where people can engage in honest and productive debates, without fear of being silenced or de-platformed.
Of course, not everyone is a fan of Rumble or Dave’s approach to free speech. Some have criticized the platform for allowing certain voices to be amplified or for promoting viewpoints that they believe to be harmful or extreme. However, as Maher noted in his discussion with Brand, it’s important to remember that free speech isn’t always comfortable or easy.
“We’re living through a time where free speech is in retreat,” he said. “And it’s a dangerous thing. It’s a dangerous thing for the Left too, because they’re eating their own. And they’re going to wake up one day and realize that they’ve created a monster.”
Whether you agree with Dave’s politics or not, it’s clear that his commitment to free speech and open discussion is resonating with a lot of people. While mainstream social media platforms continue to engage in censorship and control, Rumble offers a different kind of space – one where all voices can be heard, and where honest and productive conversations can take place.
As we move into an increasingly complex and uncertain future, platforms like Rumble and voices like Dave’s will be more important than ever. By standing up for free speech and promoting open dialogue, they are helping to ensure that we maintain a democracy that is both healthy and robust. And that’s something that we can all be thankful for.
