Teen Stabbed at Takoma Metro: Incident at Cedar Street NW and Carroll Street NW

Takoma, Washington, D.C. – A violent stabbing unfolded near the Takoma Metro station late Wednesday evening, leaving a teenage male with serious injuries. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Cedar Street NW and Carroll Street NW, near the bus bay area of the Metro station.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a report of a stabbing at around 9:00 p.m. on May 14, 2025. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, a male teenager, with apparent stab wounds. The victim was found at the bus bay, a busy area where Metro buses frequently pick up and drop off passengers, just steps away from the Metro entrance.

Emergency medical services (EMS) were immediately called to the scene. The victim, whose identity has not been publicly released, was reportedly conscious when first responders arrived but in serious condition. Paramedics worked quickly to stabilize the teenager before transporting him to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have yet to release specific details regarding the circumstances of the stabbing or what led to the altercation. The MPD’s Homicide Branch, which investigates serious assaults and killings in the District of Columbia, has taken over the investigation. A spokesperson from MPD stated that detectives are canvassing the area for any potential witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from both the Metro station and surrounding areas.

“The victim is receiving medical care at this time, and we are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this violent incident,” said the MPD spokesperson. “We are asking anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.”

Metro police officers were seen on site last night conducting interviews and securing the area around the bus bay. The incident caused a temporary disruption to both Metro bus and train services, but service was largely restored by the following morning.

Local residents expressed concern over the safety of the Takoma neighborhood following the stabbing. Some commuters, who regularly use the Takoma Metro station for their daily travels, voiced fears that such violent incidents could become more common in the area.

“I’ve been using this station for years, and it’s usually pretty calm,” said one commuter, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s shocking to hear something like this happened so close to home. I hope the authorities get to the bottom of it and ensure that this kind of violence doesn’t continue in our neighborhood.”

Takoma, located in the northwest part of Washington, D.C., is known for its family-friendly environment and historical charm. However, like many urban neighborhoods, it has faced challenges with crime in recent years. While violent crime in the city has been on the rise in certain areas, residents hope that law enforcement’s swift response and ongoing investigations will prevent similar incidents from occurring.

The Takoma Metro station is a crucial transportation hub, with thousands of commuters relying on the station to travel throughout D.C. and beyond. The proximity of the stabbing to the bus bay, a popular spot for passengers, has left many in the community questioning the safety of transit facilities.

In the wake of the stabbing, local government officials, including Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George, expressed their concern over the rising violence in the area. In a statement, she said, “We need to ensure that public spaces, including Metro stations, are safe for our residents, especially our young people. We will work with law enforcement to address this violence and explore solutions to prevent future incidents.”

At the time of publication, the victim’s condition was still considered critical. Investigators continue to gather evidence, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying any potential suspects or providing any information that may lead to the resolution of the case.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the MPD at (202) 727-9099 or to text information to 50411. Tips can remain anonymous.

As this story develops, updates will be provided on the status of the investigation and the victim’s condition.
